Lawyers try to shift Akbar
Adilabad: MIM MLA Akbaruddin Owaisi’s lawyers are not trying to secure bail but are focusing on on getting him shifted to Hyderabad. They have said that there are no super-specialty medical facilities in Adilabad and also cited security reasons.
They argued before the Nirmal magistrate that when hundreds of people are going from Adilabad to Hyderabad for treatment, how will Mr Owaisi get the treatment he needs unless he is shifted.
Magistrate K. Ajesh Kumar dismissed the petition and issued orders to the Adilabad jail authorities to make available the required medical facilities for Mr Owaisi in Adilabad, where the RIMS is located.
The magistrate will hear on Thursday, the petition filed by the Nirmal police seeking permission for seven days police custody of Mr Owaisi.
Law experts say it will anyway be difficult to get bail for Mr Owaisi and it will take some time, since he has been booked under IPC Section 121 (waging war against the government of India).
One of Mr Owaisi’s advocates said they were not appealing for sanction of bail or the charges levelled against him. “Saving the life of Mr Owaisi is more important right now,” he said.
The Adilabad district administration has set up a special ward at the RIMS in case Mr Owaisi needs it. A team of doctors will be reaching RIMS from Hyderabad on Thursday.
