Leaders set for Friday Telangana party

Hyderabad: All eyes are on Friday’s Congress core committee meeting which is likely to discuss the Telangana issue. TRS chief K. Chandrasekhar Rao has, however, remained silent and has decided to adopt a wait and watch policy, sources said.
With the Congress not announcing a concrete decision on the statehood issue so far, the TRS has decided to ignore former PCC chief D. Srinivas’ suggestion to Chandrasekhar Rao to merge his party with the Congress.
“We have decided to wait for an announcement. Even if the Congress takes a favourable decision, it will take time for the process to begin. We cannot be certain on Telangana till the Centre moves a bill in Parliament,” TRS politburo member Vinod Kumar said on Wednesday.
Asked for his guess on what could happen, he said, “The Congress could announce Telangana state but may not introduce a bill. Their priority is food bill. There is very little time as polls are rumoured to be slated in November. If they are sincere, they should move a bill by November or people will never believe them.”
Rumours are agog that the Congress is mulling multiple options, such as a Telangana state with Hyderabad as capital for a period of 10 years, or a Telangana state with Hyderabad as a centrally administered area for some time.
Rayala-Telangana is also on the cards with the last option being a package for Telangana. Sources said Chandrasekhar Rao was in the loop over the Telangana road map. The TRS has already rejected the Rayala-Telangana idea.
Congress MPs may rock boat
Hyderabad:
In case the Centre decides in favour of Telangana state, around 30-40 MLAs from Seemandhra as well as some ministers are likely to approach the Governnor seeking withdrawal of their support to the government, forcing it into a minority.
“If Telangana state is announced, there will be revolt in Seemandhra leaders. They cannot resign, as there are chances of the Speaker rejecting them citing other reasons. In that eventuality, Congress MLAs should act in a manner that is received well by their electorate.
Similarly, they cannot face elections while continuing in Congress, that is the reason they want to pull down the government,” reasons YSR Congress leader Gone Prakash Rao.
TRS leaders in Delhi meanwhile asked their Congress counterparts not to obstruct their efforts to achieve Telangana state.
