Leh toll 165, cloudburst in Kargil
The people of Leh and its neighbourhood continued to cremate or bury their dead on Monday as rescuers retrieved more bodies from under the rubble of flattened homes and other buildings or those overwhelmed by heaps of mud and slush.
The last count was 165 dead, including 15 who could not be identified but were buried or cremated. Meanwhile, a fresh cloudburst in Kargil area on Saturday cut off many villages. J&K CM Omar Abdullah visited Leh to oversee rescue and relief for the second time visit since the natural catastrophe left more than 500 injured and an equal number, including many Army and ITBP personnel and two French nationals, missing. [Eighty-one foreigners and six tour guides were rescued by the IAF from Zanskar Valley, PTI reported.]
