Leopard rescues her two caged cubs
A female leopard rescued two of her cubs from a forest department cage in Sinnar taluka of the district even as the third one was left injured in the attempt, official sources said today.
The incident took place in Chas village on Tuesday when the mother leopard broke open the iron-netted cage and successfully took away two cubs to a safe place. The third one was however, left behind bleeding profusely after being wounded in the rescue attempt, they said.
The three cubs were born last Saturday in an agriculture field in the village following which owner Sanjay Gadakh informed the forest officials.
On Monday, the officials visited the field. Noticing that the mother leopard was not near them, they put the cubs into a cage there and fed them.
A day later, the leopard rescued two of them. Forest officials are now giving medical care to the cub which was hurt after a iron wire got stuck in its feet.
