LeT, Hizb bid to infiltrate: Intel
Latest intelligence inputs with the Central agencies confirm that a group of 34 Lashkar-e-Tayyaba (LeT) and Hizbul Mujahideen militants are trying to enter India. With reports that the on-going World Cup cricket tournament could be targeted by terror groups, security arrangements for the forthcoming Indo-Pak semi-final match in Mohali has been further tightened.
Sources in the agencies confirm that commanders (for causing terror activities in India) of LeT and HM have been asked by their Pakistan-based handlers to ensure that maximum infiltration takes place by the end of this month and terror activities are increased.
Inputs with the agencies reveal that five LeT militants, two of them are foreigners, are camping near ‘Kaliban’ village in Pak Occupied Kashmir (PoK) and are waiting to cross the border. Other militants will try to enter India through Gurez and Baramulla in Jammu and Kashmir. Sources said that the majority of the militants who would attempt infiltration belong to LeT.
Militants are in constant touch with their area commanders based in Baramulla and Kupwara, sources said, adding that they were waiting at several launching pads located at Dogi Chham and Sonar in PoK. Security along the international border has been heightened following the inputs.
“Hizbul Mujahideen chief Syed Salahuddin recently visited terrorist training camps in PoK with Pakistan Army and the ISI officials in a bid to encourage militants to infiltrate and cause terror activities in different parts of the country,” sources said. Radio conversation between code A-3 (control station LeT in PoK) and code Delta-1 (base headquarters LeT in PoK) revealed that majority of the militants would try to cross Indian border through J&K after March 25, sources said.
