Liability bill to be tabled in LS today

The Civil Liability for Nuclear Damage Bill will be tabled in the Lok Sabha Wednesday, but it will pass only if the government strikes a deal with either the BJP or the Mandalite parties.

Well-placed NDA sources said the bill might be passed as the government had indicated willingness to accept a BJP amendment in the Lok Sabha on Wednesday. Senior BJP leaders, including Mr L.K. Advani and Mr Arun Jaitley, will meet at 10 am.
On Tuesday, CPI(M) leader Sitaram Yechury said after a meeting with MoS Prithviraj Chavan that the government might also accept Left amendments.
