Lincoln letter introduced in MP schools

Madhya Pradesh chief minister Shivraj Chauhan on Sunday formally released for the state’s teachers and schools the historical letter written by former US President Abraham Lincoln to his son’s teacher. The letter by Abraham Lincoln, which is considered an important historical document, will be put up on display both in Hindi and English in 1,15,183 schools across the state. The letter will also be circulated among 3,15,170 teachers associated with the state school education department.

Situation tense, curfew in Ratlam

The situation in curfew-bound Ratlam in western Madhya Pradesh remained tense but under control on Sunday. Two police station areas of Ratlam were placed under curfew early on Saturday morning when the city was rocked by communal violence that erupted after some miscreants allegedly threw cow dung at a place of worship. Curfew was relaxed for women and children in the riot hit areas of Ratlam between 12 noon and 2 pm on Sunday. According to information received here, a stone pelting mob targeted the police force on Sunday afternoon.

Girl dies after being beaten by headmaster
Muzaffarnagar : A government school headmaster has been booked for allegedly beating up a Class 2 student who later succumbed to her injuries here, the police said.
Jawahar Government School student Muntisha was beaten by headmaster Nabi Mohd on September 1 and she died on Saturday, SP Akash Kulheri said. The headmaster is absconding and efforts are on to trace him, they added. —PTI

3rd yr B.Tech student ragged in Kolkata

A third year B.Tech student of Durgapur Institute of Advanced Technology and Management was allegedly ragged and beaten up by some fourth year students at the hostel, after he refused to consume liquor on Sunday afternoon. Abhishek Rabi has been admitted at a private nursing home where he has received 30 stitches. The institute has informed his family in Patna who will be arriving at Durgapur on Monday. According to Abhishek, few senior students smashed the bottle on his head after he refused to drink liquor.
