Links to Sabarmati jailbreak bid?
The investigators, probing Thursday’s blasts in Hyderbad, are investigating the links of the twin blasts with the recent Sabarmati Central jail break plan by Indian Mujahideen (IM) militants. The intelligence agencies will soon question top IM militants Abu Bashar and Usman Agarbatti, both mastermind of the jail break plan and accused in 2008 Ahmedabad serial blasts, in connection with Hyderabad blasts.
A major jailbreak plan on February 10 was unearthed in the Sabarmati Central Jail when jail authorities discovered a 18-foot long tunnel, dug by Ahmedabad serial blasts case undertrials. Around 56 IM militants are currently languishing in Sabarmati jail, including Bashar and Agarbatti.
“Inputs suggest that Bashar and Agarbatti have detail information about the active sleeper cells of IM in Andhra Pradesh. They also have information about Lashkar-e-Tayyaba’s (LeT) revival plan of IM network in Uttar Pradesh, AP and some other southern states”, sources said. That is the reason that officials of central agencies want to question the duo in connection with the Hyderabad blasts, they added.
Sources further said, “Available inputs also indicate involvement of some Gujarat-based IM operatives, who were part of jail break attempt, in Thursday’s blasts. It is being further verified”. Investigations have revealed that Bashar has succeeded in reviving the IM network in Gujarat.
