‘LionKing’ to rock Kochi on Jan. 20
Kochi: Art and education will go hand in hand. Proving this, a private enterprise is gearing up to host a mega production show for art aficionados in Kochi, with super star Mohanlal in the forefront.
The event, being hosted by Choice Group in association with JTpac on January 20, will be a musical adaptation of ‘LionKing’ – a musical drama film with colourful dances choreographed by leading professional trainers in Mumbai. Mohanlal is mentoring the programme that involves around 450 children who would perform on a single stage.
The actor, who is the brain behind this musical extravaganza, has performed for several well-known theatre troupes in Indian and abroad.
He says, “It is through JTPac that we could establish a theatre culture in Kerala, with so many international and national theatre artists coming down to Kochi to perform.”
“Lion King will have all emotions – love, revenge, happiness – in it, and it would give the audience the feel of watching a feature film. Let’s hope for something bigger with this mega event.”
Directed by Mumbai-based Silly Point Productions, the mega show is a two-hour programme that would witness a live musical score performed by a choir of over 100 children. It would be performed for the first on a hydraulic stage.
The event would be held at the Choice School grounds. Choice Group MD Jose Thomas says, “This is just the start. The show will be taken to nine major cities within the country this year and would help connect India through art, with the children in the front.”
