liquor seized near Sullurpeta in Nellore

Nellore: Excise wing officials have seized 250 cartons containing spurious liquor bottles worth Rs 7.5 lakh near a liquor shop at Doravarisatram near Sullurpeta late on Monday night.
According to locals the excise officials have seized the liquor from the wine shop itself but claiming differently to save the licensee since he is a follower of a ruling party leader.
Officials conducted the raid after a police officer alerted them when he stumbled upon an autorickshaw transporting the liquor bottles. He alerted the excise officials when he noticed Karnataka labels on the cartons.
Interestingly the excise officials not even named the police officer who seized the cartons. They said that they have picked up a person for questioning.
