LK for fight against ‘scam-ridden UPA’
Senior BJP leader L.K. Advani on Sunday called political parties and “right-minded” people to come together in the battle against the scam-ridden UPA government at the Centre.
Speaking to the media here, Mr Advani cautioned that if this “serious malady” is not rectified, the nation would soon lose its peace. “Corruption, like inflation, has become a serious malady in the country. This needs to be confronted by right-thinking people and political parties and combated effectively. If not, there will be no peace in the country,” he said. Earlier, while launching the book Shah Commission Report — Lost and Regained, authored by former parliamentarian Era Chezhian, Mr Advani reminded the audience of how political parties united under the Janata Party’s Jaiprakash Narayan post-Emergency to defeat the Congress and said that it was time for the Opposition to come together once again to throw out the UPA government.
Pointing out that corruption has become a serious malady in the country, he said, “The Supreme Court, Comptroller and Auditor-General (CAG), Parliament and even the fourth estate have been highlighting a series of scams from the Commonwealth Games, Adarsh housing scam to the 2G spectrum scandal.”
