LoC trade, buses may resume today
Cross-LoC trade and bus services via Chakan-da-Bagh transit point in Poonch-Rawlakote corridor, suspended in the aftermath of recent bloody skirmishes along the Line of Control, will likely resume on Monday, officials here said Sunday.
Scores of Kashmiris have been stranded on either side of the de facto border for non-availability of the weekly Karwan-e-Aman bus service at Chakan-da-Bagh for more than a fortnight now. Also, the Pakis-tanis had on January 10 reportedly refused to open the gates to trucks carrying listed goods, mainly vegetables and other eatables, for PoK, citing artillery exchanges between the facing Armies in the Chakan-da-Bagh neighbourhood. That came two days after the Indian Army said two of its soldiers were killed while repelling a Pakistani intrusion and that one of them was beheaded, a charge denied by Islamabad which accused India of initiating a series of ceasefire violations along the border that injured three Pakistani soldiers and a civilian. Tension has eased since.
