Lokayukta notices to Achuta, son
The Lokayukta has issued notices to former CM V.S. Achuthanandan and his son Arun Kumar on a complaint that government officials were sent unnecessarily to a finishing school under the Institute of Human Resources Development, where the latter worked. Achuthanandan had issued the order for the training when he was holding the charge of the transport ministry causing much loss to the exchequer.
Mr Madavoor alleged Mr Achuthanandan issued an order to sent assistant motor vehicle inspectors and motor vehicle inspectors for a training programme at the school under IHRD collecting `2,500 from each participant. This was done when the Central-run Institute of Management in Government was offering free training for officials, he said.
The allegation is that Mr Achuthanandan issued the order to help the institute under the control of his son.
The division bench of the Lokayukta consisting Justice Pareeth Pillai and K.K. Dinesan also issued notice to former transport commissioner, Mr Prem Shankar, at a sitting held at Kozhikode on Wednesday. The case will be taken up again on July 27.
