London police yet to reveal motive
The Met police in London did not reveal the reason behind the stabbing of Hyderabad resident J. Praveen Reddy, who recently completed his MBA in London, by his flatmates.
The police, which had arrested 11 men while investigating the case, released a 27-year-old man on Saturday without further action.
Seven other men, aged between 22 years and 27 years, have been bailed by the police to return for questioning on dates yet to be confirmed.
The Newham Borough police is investigating the stabbing.
All the men had been present at the Plaistow flat when the altercation that led to the stabbing had taken place.
Reddy, who was in a critical condition after being stabbed multiple times, is marginally better now, Reddy family friend K. Kasipathi said. “He was sedated when I went to see him in hospital on Saturday night, but the doctors said he was doing better compared to Friday. He is scheduled to have another surgery today,” he added.
Reddy’s parents are arriving in London on Monday from Hyderabad and will immediately rush to the Royal Free Hospital in Whitechapel, east London, to see him and confer with his doctors, Mr Kasipathi said.
External affairs minister S.M. Krishna spoke to Reddy’s father on Saturday assuring him of all help in getting visa.
The external affairs minister also spoke to acting high commissioner Rajesh Prasad, asking him to extend all possible help to the family. Reddy is the youngest son of Sudhakar Reddy, a businessman.
