Lookout notice against Hiranandani brothers
The Central Bureau of Investigation on Tuesday issued an alert notice at all domestic airports against construction giant Hiranandani Group, which is headed by brother duo Niranjan Hiranandani and his brother Surendra Hiranandani. CBI officers said that they have asked the immigration officials to be alert, as they suspect the duo
might try to flee the country. The CBI has registered a case against the Hiranandanis — both directors of Hiranandani properties, along with eight others for allegedly cheating the Employees’ Provident Fund Department to the tune of Rs 168 crores.
According to joint director CBI, (western zone), Rishi Raj Singh, the Hiranandani Group had not been paying its share of the PF dues for its employees, who were engaged in different projects of the company. In fact the company paid a measly Rs 2.92 lakhs as PF dues in connivance with the EPF officials.
CBI officials said that they have not been able to question the men ever since the case was registered two years ago. “For almost a month, we have been trying to reach them at their residences. However, we are being told that they are not at home. Hence, we have now issued an alert notice at airports. If the brothers or any other accused arrive at any of the airports, then the airport police will have to detain them and hand them over to us,” Mr Singh said.
