Lovers face Kerala cops’ ire
After carrying out a drive to pull up youth wearing low-waist jeans, the police of Thrissur district are now out to drive away young lovers hanging around in public places.
Irinjalakuda police has put up ominous posters urging the public
to “respond” and “react” to young lovers hanging around in street corners so that they do not “destroy their own future”.
The statutory warnings also carry the phone numbers of the circle inspector, the sub inspector and that of the police station, seeking intelligence on ‘love crimes’ by the youth.
It has been over two weeks since the posters appeared in Irinjalakuda but cops have denied any knowledge of this ‘moral policing’.
The Irinjalakuda circle inspector, Mr T.S. Shinoj, told this newspaper, that police had not put up any such posters.
