Madani will be taken to B’luru today
People’s Democratic Party leader Abdul Nasser Madani will be taken to Bengaluru on Tuesday, it is learnt.
Madani, an accused in the Bengaluru blast case, will either surrender before the Karunagapilly magistrate in the morning, and if that does not happen, he would be arrested and taken away by the Karnataka police team now camping in the state.
This decision emerged in the discussions between the Bengaluru joint commissioner (crime), Mr Alok Kumar, and the southern range inspector general, Mr Hemachandran, at Thiruvananthapuram on Monday night. “There is a warrant and it will be executed,” the IG told mediapersons after the meeting. “I can’t tell you more.”
Meanwhile, Madani has moved the Supreme Court seeking a stay on his arrest.
Mr Alok Kumar, who arrived at Kollam along with senior officer, Mr H.M. Omkaraiah, in the morning also interacted with the DGP, Mr Jacob Punnoose, before meeting Mr Hemachandran, who is handling the operation.
Sources said the Karnataka police team would either present the warrant before the Karunagappally magistrate if Madani goes there or move into his camp in Anwaraserry and arrest him by noon. It was Madani’s lawyer who announced on Monday evening that he would surrender.
