Madani's arrest or surrender expected today
Arrest or surrender of PDP leader Abdul Nasser Madani in the Bengaluru blasts case is expected to take place on Tuesday as the deadline for execution of the warrant issued by a Bengaluru court is to expire by Tuesday evening.
Political pressure is also mounting on Kerala's LDF government to facilitate the Karnataka police to carry out the legal process.
After a meeting with joint commissioner of the Bengaluru police Alok Kumar in the state capital on Monday night, Kerala's IG (southern range) Hemachandran made it clear that the "warrant would be executed".
This assurance came after Karnataka home minister V.S. Acharya openly put the blame for the delay in the matter on the Kerala government.
Though reconciled to the reality, the PDP leadership is still weighing the options before them — whether to yield to the arrest or surrender before a nearby court.
It was also possible that Madani could be moved to hospital since the doctors who examined him on Monday suggested a similar action. According to police sources, even in such a scenario, the police could bring him under its custody and record the arrest to fulfil the legal requirement.
The situation in and around the orphanage complex at Anwarssery, where Madani is camping, continued to be under the police control.
