Madhuri takes to twitter to deny land controversy
Actress Madhuri Dixit-Nene took to Twitter to clear her name from the controversies that have plagued her ever since her return to India from the US.
The trouble began in April when she was nominated for Raj Kapoor awards constituted by the Maharashtra government. The actress could not attend the event herself and she had got her father to accept the award on her behalf. In no later than a month, Madhuri was approached by the state government to become the brand ambassador for Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation. During this time, reports appeared that the actor was unhappy with the remuneration she was being offered and, hence, declined.
Then in the month of July, there were reports that Madhuri had approached the BMC for some land in the western suburbs to set up a dance academy. Madhuri, on Saturday night, took to the microblogging website to set facts straight.
In a series of tweets she said, “Alright friends, wanted to dispel several rumours which were making the tabloid press. Have never asked Shiv Sena or any other political party for land for any purpose (sic).”
She also clarified that she was willing to become the brand ambassador for the MTDC, but the deal did not work out because of internal problems in the MTDC.
“Was approached by the MTDC for Maharashtra tourism ambassador. All was agreed upon. Ultimately they could not agree amongst themselves. Ultimately, this was not conveyed by MTDC to Mr (Ajit) Pawar (sic).”
