Maha gets notice by NHRC
The battle between the governments of Maharastra and Andhra Pradesh acquired a human rights angle with the TDP approaching the NHRC with a complaint against the Maharashtra government. The NHRC has since issued a notice to the D-G of the Maharashtra police and the chief secretary of Maharashtra asking them to file a reply within two weeks. A delegation of TDP MPs led by Mr Mysura Reddy landed on the doors of the NHRC and sought its intervention in the ongoing tussle between the two states in the light of the arrest of its leader N. Chandrababu Naidu by the Maharashtra police.

RTI activist shot dead

In a shocking incident exposing chunks in the system a right to information seeker working on environmental issues was shot dead right opposite the Gujarat high court here on Tuesday night.
Amit Jethwa, who was waging a battle against illegal mining exposing the mafia-politician nexus, was shot dead by two motorcycle-borne unknown assailants. After firing, the assailants ran away. The incident took place late evening on Tuesday.
Jethwa was based in Khambha in Amreli district and was running Gir Nature Youth Club.
