Maj Gen oversaw 26/11, says Jundal
The importance the Pakistani establishment attached to the 26/11 Mumbai terror attack can be judged from the fact that the Pakistan Army deputed an officer of the rank of major-general at the Karachi control room to supervise the Mumbai massacre.
This was disclosed by Lashkar-e-Tayyaba terrorist Abu Jundal, whose revelations confirmed beyond doubt that the 26/11 attack enjoyed complete state support in Pakistan. While Jundal claims he is not aware of the officer’s name, everyone in the control addressed the officer as “General Saheb”.
Jundal’s passport and national identity card issued by the Pakistani authorities, issued in the name of Riyasat Ali, son of Mohammed Khushi, copies of which are in this newspaper’s possession, show his passport was issued in January 2009, and valid till 2014. His address is given as Muridke, District Sheikupura.
His National Identity Card for Overseas Pakistanis (No. 354050-39704-7) shows his place of residence as Saudi Arabia. Sources claim he was also issued another identity card as a Pakistan resident, which happens to be in Urdu.
India will provide a set of these documents to Pakistan at the foreign secretary-level dialogue starting in New Delhi on Wednesday.
But sources confirmed that no details or hard evidence that may hamper the ongoing investigations into the case will be shared with Pakistan.
