Make ministers’ assets public: AGP
The principal Opposition Asom Gana Parishad on Saturday accused the ruling Congress Party of complete failure in fulfilling the commitment given to the people of the state in two manifestos on which party contested the elections.
Asking Assam chief minister Tarun Gogoi to ask his ministers to make public the properties of his ministers and their wives also, AGP president Chandra Mohan Patowary told reporters that the government was going to organise a show to showcase their “so-called achievements” at the cost of public money.
The Assam government is going to organise a public meeting on Sunday to mark the completion of four years of the government.
Releasing a specific chargesheet against the ruling party of their failure, Mr Patowary said that present government was spending more fund on publicity than development. He said that the state has failed to make any significant progress in attracting investment and improving agriculture.
Regretting the lowest per capita income of the state, he said that rampant corruption and misuse of the government fund has become the order of the day. He also sadi the chief minister has failed in maintaining transparency.
