Mamata to address industrialists June 18
West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee will address a gathering of captains of industry and chambers of commerce here on Saturday to outline her blueprint for the state’s industrialisation.
“Heads of all public sector undertakings, industrial bigwigs and representatives of all chambers of commerce have been invited for the seminar where the chief minister will be the main speaker,” state industry and commerce minister Partha Chatterjee told mediapersons here on Wednesday.
Invitation cards for the seminar have been sent by state finance minister Amit Mitra to 137 industrial leaders to attend the programme at Belvedere in Alipore. “The chief minister will present her roadmap of industrialisation. As Trinamool Congress chief, she had earlier spoken on her vision.
Now as the chief minister she will present the blueprint,” Chatterjee said. “We want to involve all stakeholders — industrialists, public sector undertaking heads, chambers of commerce, employees and officials - in our efforts,” he said. Underlying the need for maintaining a balance between industry and agriculture, he said the government would welcome all investors who have job-oriented projects.
Soon after becoming the union railway minister in 2009, Banerjee had held talks with the chambers of commerce at the same venue.
