Mamata breathes fire at Congress
Continuing her tirade against the Congress, Trinamul Congress chief Mamata Banerjee on Wednesday said that the Congress was leading the UPA because they had majority in Delhi but the Trinamul Congress had the majority in Bengal. “You look after Delhi let us take care of Bengal,” Ms Banerjee said addressing thousands of party supporters at the Nandibagan Math, in chief minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee’s Assembly constituency.
“It was not the wish of any individual that sent us to Delhi, it was the wish of the common people. The UPA government would not have been formed if we had not supported it,” the Trinamul Congress chief thundered. She once again reminded that the UPA constituted of many parties like the NCP, DMK and the Trinamul Congress.
Stating that the breaking up of alliance before the municipal polls will not have any adverse affect on the elections results, Ms Banerjee said: “In 2001 also, we had formed an alliance with the Congress but we were defeated. This time we have won because the people have wished for a change.” The Trinamul Congress chief attacked the CPI(M), pointing out that there was no democracy in the CM’ constituency. “Just like in the Jangalmahal and the Hills of Bengal, there is no democracy in his own constituency,” she said.
