Mamata on prez poll: wait till saturday
Unfazed by the sudden turn of events, Trinamul Congress chief and West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee on Friday evening said: “The game is not over yet. Wait for tomorrow, many developments will take place. Whatever I have to say I will say tomorrow.”
While leaving the Writers’ Buildings in the late evening, she was asked by the media persons if she was feeling cheated by Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Mulayam Singh’s U-turn. “He is a senior political leader and he might have some political compulsion. I don’t want to say on this. But I won’t deviate from what I have said,” she replied.
Significantly, Ms Banerjee said she congratulated YS Jagan Mohan Reddy for YSR Congress Party’s success in the bye-elections in Andhra Pradesh.
Ms Banerjee after returning from New Delhi went straight to the state secretariat. She was glued to the television set closely monitoring the rapidly-changing political situation in New Delhi. She was aghast by the SP’s extension of support to Mr Mukherjee. She held a marathon meeting at her chamber in with some of the senior leaders of her party to formulate further strategy.
