Mamata vows to foil Citu’s strike
The Mamata Banerjee government on Friday vowed to foil the proposed transport strike on July 31 which has been called by the CPI(M)’s labour wing, Citu. To add to the woes of the Citu, not only the state government but even its own Left Front partners also crossed swords with the CPI(M) over the issue. In a Left Front meeting on Friday, the RSP and CPI raised objection to what they termed as the Citu’s unilateral and arbitrary decision. Citu state president Shyamal Chakraborty on Thursday had announced a transport strike on July 31 to press for their demand for subsidy from the state government to tide over hike in the prices of petrol and diesel.
The CM herself took the lead and exhorted the common people to foil the transport strike on Friday. “The CPI(M) is once again indulging in destructive politics of bandhs and blockades. I appeal to you to not support the transport strike on July 31,” she said while addressing a public rally at Bolpur’s Dak Bungalow ground.

Kasab was the sharpest recruit: abu
Dippy Vankani
Mumbai, July 27
Zabiuddin Ansari alias Abu Jundal has told his interrogators that Ajmal Amir Kasab was the sharpest among all the young recruits of Lashkar-e-Tayyaba.
Jundal said that Kasab was the only one who could identify him as an Indian during the first meeting.
Jundal had trained the 10 terrorists in Hindi for months before the 26/11 terror raids. “During his interrogation, Jundal said that among the many recruits of the LeT, Kasab pointed out in the first session itself that he was an Indian. Jundal also said that of all the people he trained there, Kasab was a quick learner and was very active, not only in physical training, but also quickly picked up on his Hindi lectures,” said a source.
Jundal told his interrogators that he was shocked when Kasab asked him whether he was an Indian. “Jundal said that his nationality was kept a secret in the terror camps and he wondered how Kasab could make him out as an Indian. He said that he could not figure out whether it was his dialect or mannerisms that created the suspicion in Kasab’s mind,” the source added.
Meanwhile, senior crime branch sources said that Jundal first met his recruiter — an LeT operative — in 2005 at Hotel Tawa in Aurangabad.
