Mammootty lends glamour

Kochi: Superstar Mammootty brought his star presence and glamour to the venue on the concluding day of the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas. The conference hall for the session on ‘India’s Growing Soft Power’ was packed as Mammootty was listed as a speaker. However, the audience was also disappointed that actors Mohanlal and Sharat Kumar and director Priyadarshan, who were invited to be part of the panel, did not show.
Mammootty drew a round of applause when he said that in a country of diverse cultures and languages, patriotism was a strong force for unity. The world of Indian cinema can be proud as more than 2,000 films are released annually across the country, which by itself is a record and no small achievement. He clarified that politics was not his cup of tea and he would remain an actor. Queries came from various quarters as to what was the secret behind his youthfulness. Pat came his reply, “It’s a secret and let it remain so.”
