Man arrested in Hyderabad for accepting bets on India-Eng ODI
A man has been arrested for allegedly accepting bets on the first India-England one-day international match, from Jambagh here, police said on Sunday.
The accused Anil Kumar Agarwal, a collection agent with a chit fund firm, was apprehended after sleuths of Commissioner's Task Force (East Zone Team) conducted a raid at his house at Jambagh yesterday, police said, adding a sum of Rs43,000, six cell phones, one TV set and other incriminating materials were seized from his possession.
Agarwal, who is facing financial problem had "hatched" a plan to earn easy money by accepting cricket bets in an organised manner directly and indirectly over cell phones from known and unknown punters for the past few months, police said.
