Man beheads wife over ‘extra-martial affair’

A man allegedly beheaded his wife for an ‘extra-martial affair’ and then surrendered to the police in Assam's Dibrugarh district.

Polit Paik (35) of Sessa Maoidamoni village under Barbaruah police station caught his wife Pinky alias Rekha Paik in a compromising position with her lover last night, police said.

In a fit of rage, Paik beheaded his 30-year-old wife with a sharp weapon and later surrendered to the police with her severed head.

Paik who has four children confessed to the police about the crime.

As the lover managed to flee the scene, the body of the woman has been sent to the Assam Medical College for post mortem.
