Man seeks death papers of living kin
In a bizarre incident, an aggrieved resident of Puthanatham panchayat has now applied for death certificate for all the five members of his family as their names were deleted from the voters’ list allegedly at the behest of the DMK panchayat president.
Manimaran (42) of Therku Theru in Puthanatham, in his petition to the tehsildar in Manapparai recently, has alleged that Muthukumaran, noon meal organiser, of village deleted the names of members of his family from voters’ list at the behest of panchayat president due to enmity.
Mr Manimaran said that their names were not included though he had submitted required filled in forms for the inclusion of their names in voters’ list.
He added that he had presented a petition to the district collector and tehsildar of Manapparai taluk two months ago requesting the officials to take action against the noon meal organiser and DMK panchayat president but no action has taken so far. Mr Manimaran said deletion of names from the voters’ list was tantamount to declaring them dead. Therefore, he requested the tehsildar to issue death certificates.
