Manu granted 5-day parole, discos barred
Manu Sharma, serving life imprisonment for the 1999 murder of model Jessica Lal, was on Wednesday granted parole for five days by the Delhi high court to attend his younger brother’s wedding.
Justice V.K. Shali, however, imposed the restriction that Sharma would not visit any nightclub or discotheque during his temporary release from Tihar Jail from November 21 to 25.
“The petitioner (Sharma) is allowed to be released on parole for five days, but he shall not visit any nightclub or discotheque,” the judge ordered, directing Sharma to furnish a personal bond of `50,000 and a surety of equal amount before the jail superintendent.
The parole in restricted to Chandigarh, Ambala and Karnal where the wedding and other functions are due to be held.
