Maoist action teams to target security forces
Central security agencies have got input about Maoists setting up “action teams’’ to target security forces and politicians. The move by the Maoists is believed to have come after a recent meeting of the CPI(Maoist) central committee where the “action groups’’ set-up were asked to follow their mandate despite civilian lives being lost in such attacks.
Intelligence sources said that the recent interrogation of Maoists arrested after Gyaneswari Express train tragedy in West Bengal have confessed to the move to target security personnel and politicians. “Apprehending threat, many political leaders in the areas dominated by the Maoists have started resigning from their respective political parties,” the sources said.
The sources said that Maoists might be planning to launch such attacks in both rural and semi-urban areas in West Bengal, Jharkhand, Orissa, Chhattisgarh, Andhra Pradesh and Maharashtra.
