Maoists free abducted engineer, no trace of collector
Maoists on Wednesday released Prabitra Majhi, the junior engineer who was abducted along with Malkangiri district collector R.V. Krishna at Jaanavai village. Krishna is yet to be released.
Naxals had earlier said that both officils would be released within 48 hours. R.V. Krishna and junior engineer Pabitra Majhi, were abducted from Chitrakonda area of Malkangiri district on February 16.
12 Maoists including hardcore rebel leader Sriramalu Srinivasalu were released on bail as talks for the pair's safe return reached a decisive stage on Tuesday after another top Naxal Ganti Prasadam joined the negotiation process.
Srinivasalu got bail along with 11 others from a fast track court in Malkangiri. The Maoists had demanded release of Sriramlu, Ganti Prasadam, Padma and several others.
