Maoists kill 2 CRPF men in Jangalmahal
Close on the heels of a Trinamul Congress activist’s murder by suspected Maoists in Jangalmahal, two jawans of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) deployed for the anti-Naxal operations fell prey to the rebels’ bullets after a gang of rebels raided a CRPF camp inside a dense forest and attacked the troopers.
The attack took place at a time when West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee claims to have brought peace in the red corridor. This is the second biggest casualty to the CRPF in the hands of the rebels since 2010 in the state. The attack took place at around 1.30 am on Monday, said CRPF inspector general of police (eastern sector) Vivek Sahay.
