Maran case: CBI will send letters rogatory
The CBI probe into the Aircel-Maxis deal has revealed that funds were allegedly routed to telecom companies in India also through Bermuda and the UK. Earlier, the money trail was confined to Mauritius and Malaysia.
Sources said Tuesday CBI would send letters rogatory (LRs) to Bermuda, the UK, Mauritius and Malaysia.
The Aircel-Maxis deal had taken place in the tenure of former telecom Minister Dayanidhi Maran.
“LRs will be sent through diplomatic channels by March 15. Probe by CBI has revealed certain Bermuda and UK-based companies routed money to an Indian telecom company through some Malaysia and Mauritius-based firms when the Aircel-Maxis deal was taking place,” the sources said.
