Marines’ kin have emotional session

Emotional scenes were witnessed as the family members of the Italian marines Latorre Massimillano and Salvatore Girone called on them at the central prison here on Thursday.

Latorre’s sister Latorre Franca and nephew Daddario Cristian and Salvatore’s father Girone Michele, mother Ferrara Marie and wife Ardito Giovanne were meeting the two after 2 months.

They were accompanied by Italian defence attache admiral Franco Faure.

The relatives who reached the prison around 11 am remained with the two till about 1 pm in the presence of officials including superintendent A. Pradeed.

“We express our deepest feeling of condolence towards the two families that lost their beloved ones,” said Latorre’s sister. “We are really glad they are in a good condition.”

Sources said the relatives would stay for a few days and they have the idea of visiting the families of the deceased fishermen.
