Masood probe: CBI raids BJP MLA’s house
After Madhya Pradesh MLA prolonged interrogation till late night on Saturday, a Central Bureau of Investigation team raided the leader’s official residence here on Sunday afternoon in connection with the RTI activist Shehla Masood murder case.
The CBI sleuths landed at the leader’s “residence-cum-office” at “45 Bungalows” in the T.T. Nagar area here on Sunday afternoon and were engaged in an extended search operation. The leader was also present at the sprawling bungalow, which is used exclusively for maintaining live contact with the “electorate”. The local MLA resides with his family at an alternate address at Char Imli — a government residential colony, near the CBI headquarters.
Reacting to CBI revelations and pointers that have brought the leader under the scanner and purview of investigation with the arrest of Bhopal-based interior designer and her friend-cum-employee in the Shehla murder case, state party president told mediapersons on Sunday that there is no question of initiating any action against the leader merely on the basis media reports and the fact that the CBI had quizzed him.
No action can be taken against a people’s representative till he is convicted by court or chargesheeted, he said taking the same posture as that adopted by the central party leader on Saturday. The state leader also brushed aside the issue by saying: “Even I or any citizen can be interrogated by the CBI.”
State home minister Umashankar Gupta has expressed faith in CBI investigations saying that the state police never got the opportunity to pursue investigation in the Shehla murder case. This case was referred to the CBI by the state government since the entire administrative machinery had become a target of a political blame game, he added.
