Mathew was a visionary:INS president
Mr T. Venkattram Reddy, chairman of The Asian Age and the Deccan Chronicle group of newspapers and president of the Indian Newspaper Society, on Sunday condoled the death of K.M. Mathew, chief editor of Malayala Manorama, saying that in his death the Indian media had lost a visionary and a pioneer.
Mathew, who took over the leadership of Malayala Manorama a few decades ago, turned it into one of the regional language newspaper giants of the country.
Under his leadership, Manorama ventured into electronic and online media and became a force to reckon with in Kerala and South India.
Besides his own group, Mathew provided able guidance and counsel to a number of bodies that he had headed, including the Indian Newspaper Society, as well as the Audit Bureau of Circulation and the Press Trust of India.
In K.M. Mathew’s death at the ripe age of 93, Indian journalism has lost a shining and inspiring pathbreaker.
