Mauritius SC: Give info on 2G to CBI
The Supreme Court of Mauritius has directed the attorney-general there to provide information sought by the CBI in connection with the probe related to 2G scam at the earliest. Besides, the CBI is planning to send a joint team of
officials from the agency and the ED, to Cyprus and Isle of Man to probe alleged overseas investments made in certain telecom firms.
Sources in the agency said, “After this direction of the Supreme Court of Mauritius, the agency will be able to get all the information sought by the CBI through letter of request”. The CBI had sought specific details about 12 Mauritius-based firms in connection with the alleged irregularities committed in awarding unified access service licence to Swan Telecom.
The CBI had sought information on the owners of the equity capital, who benefited, in all firms, records of change of shareholders, balancesheets and annual accounts, sources said.
