Maya drive may put govt docs in trouble

May 11: It could be troubled time for government doctors in Uttar Pradesh. Purging of anti-social elements from the party, as ordered by BSP chief and UP chief minister Mayawati, has extended to the government doctors in the state indulging in private practices.

Enthused by her command, the BSP workers are now drawing up a list of government doctors skipping their official duties to practice in private clinics. “The party workers at the district levels have drawn up their respective lists of government doctors indulging in private practice. This has been done as per the direction of the chief minister. The lists will be handed over to the top officials of the health department for action as per the direction of the chief minister, which includes suspension on the spot if the accused is found guilty during raids,” stated a senior BSP functionary.
The purge of anti-social elements within the BSP as well as of government servants indulging in wrong doings as ordered by the UP chief minister has enthused the party workers to the extent that they are making their respective lists in a way to catch the wrongdoers red-handed.
“Even the party coordinators at the block and district levels are being targeted for being anti-social elements. Those who brought in such people in the party will also not be spared. The party workers have also identified two BSP MLAs in the state who are alleged to be involved in anti-social activities,” added the party functionary, who refused to reveal the identities of the two legislators in question.
The purge of anti-social from the party ranks has been ordered by Ms Mayawati in a bid to ramp up party affairs in the run up to the 2012 state Assembly elections. The high-profile campaign of the BSP supremo in the 2009 Lok Sabha elections had taken a sever beating after the party could win a mere 19 parliamentary seats.
