Maya pledges quotas for upper castes
Bahujan Samaj Party supremo Mayawati on Sunday said her party would ensure reservations for the economically deprived among upper castes as well as Muslims.
“If the BSP gets a chance at the Centre, I assure you we will bring about development that takes care of all communities within five years. The Congress and BJP have failed to achieve this in their long tenure at the Centre,” she said at a “Brahmin Mahasammelan” here.
The BSP president urged brahmins to recreate the social engineering formula at the national level so that she could preside over a “sarvjan hitaye, sarvjan sukhaye” government at the Centre too.
She said if brahmins across India supported her in 2014, she would ensure each community was rewarded for its level of participation.
