Maya removes 2 more mantris on eve of polls
Uttar Pradesh chief minister Mayawati has sacked two more ministers from her government. The sacked ministers of state are Yashpal Singh, who held the science and technology portfolio, and Akbar Hussein, in charge of alternative energy. Both have also been denied tickets for the forthcoming Assembly elections.
While no reason has been officially given for the removal of these two ministers, BSP sources said that the chief minister had received complaints against them. It may be recalled that on Sunday Ms Mayawati had dismissed four state ministers, three of whom had been indicted by the Lokayukta. The total number of ministers dropped by Ms Mayawati in the past four and a half years has now reached 19.
