Mayawati govt involved in Rs 2.54 lakh crore scam: BJP
BJP on Thursday alleged that the Mayawati-led government in Uttar Pradesh was involved in scams to the tune of Rs 2.54 lakh crores and said the party would soon submit a report on it along with documentary evidence to the concerned authorities.
"In the first 'First Information Report' being submitted to state president Surya Pratap Shahi, 100 major scams of Mayawati government amounting to Rs 2.54 lakh crores have been included," BJP national secretary Kirit Somaiya told reporters here.
Based on this FIR, the party will now submit a 'chargesheet' to Shahi along with the 'documentary evidences' on June 12, he said. "The report would also be submitted to CAG, CVC and if required, it would be presented in court as well." Somaiya said details of these scams were collected over a period of two months after visiting 22 districts in the state.
The BJP leader said there were scams 'worth Rs 54,000 crores in allotment of land in Noida' and land was given to choicest people at throw away prices.
"Mills having market value of Rs 600 to Rs 800 crore were sold for Rs 14.11 crore. The party will issue a special detailed report on this in next 10 days," he said, adding there were scams in MNREGA, pensions, scholarships, power sector and even monuments.
"It is my open allegation that if a thorough inquiry of Swiss bank accounts and black money is done, names of several BSP ministers will be revealed," he said.
During construction of monuments, stones which actually cost Rs 400 per square feet were purchased at the rate of Rs 4000 per square feet, whereas statue of Elephant which originally cost Rs 10 lakh was bought for Rs 90 lakh, Somaiya alleged.
"We have information regarding 235 scams of Mayawati government, but in the first phase only 100 have been taken."
He said that scams of Mayawati government were "bigger than 2G spectrum and CWG scams". "While 2G and CWG combined are that of Rs 2.46 lakh crore, Mayawati government scams total to Rs 2.54 lakh crore," the BJP leader alleged. Somaiya said that even dalits and poor on whose votes Mayawati "rode to power were not spared and there was blatant loot of public exchequer and fund in the state."
There was competition between BSP and Congress for out doing each other in scams, he said, adding that "Maya Tax" was being realised in the state.
