Mayawati launches campaign for 2014 elections
BSP supremo Mayawati addressed a large crowd at the Rama Bai grounds in Lucknow on Tuesday.
The Maha Dalit rally on BSP founder Kanshi Ram's death anniversary was called to "ponder, deliberate and announce" the BSP's stand on issues like allowing the FDI in multi-brand retail and the diesel price hike.
BSP chief attacked the Akhilesh govt for its decision to revoke the holiday she had instituted for the death anniversary of her mentor and Dalit leader, Kanshi Ram.
"We have gathered here in lakhs to pay our tribute to Kanshi Ram - I thank you all. I strongly condemn the Congress government at the Centre for not declaring a day of mourning in the country when Kanshi Ram died. October 9 was declared as a state govt holiday by us but that was rescinded by the SP government three days ago," she said.
Highlights of Mayawati's speech:
* Akilesh is busy inaugurating schemes initiated by me
* Massive response to Maya's rally
* Woman not safe in UP
* SP changing names of cities named after Ambedkar
* 12 communal riots in six months of SP rule
* Goondas get key positions under SP rule
* BSP against FDI in retail
