Mayawati transfers two officers over Rahul visit
Heads have begun rolling in Uttar Pradesh following the “mishandling” of Congress MP Rahul Gandhi’s visit to Greater Noida on May 11.
The CM, on Saturday, transferred ADG NCR Gurbachan Lal and SSP Greater Noida S.N. Singh and replaced them with K.L. Meena and Jyoti Narain respectively. Though
the official spokesman said that the transfers were routine, sources admitted that they were fallout of Mr Gandhi’s visit and the negative publicity that the incident earned for the state government. “The officers failed to check the entry of Mr Gandhi into the area which was disturbed and also failed to foil his dharna attempt. The local intelligence was caught sleeping and the officers have to own moral responsibility,” said a source. Mr Singh is among the blue-eyed boys of the chief minister and is known for his controversial ways. He had also landed in trouble over the Aarushi case when he gave several derogatory statements.
