MBA student hacks mom to death
A 65-year-old woman was hacked to death in the wee hours of Wednesday by her son Mohammad Shareef, who completed his MBA course, in Panerichal near Chakkarakallu in Kannur district.
The victim was identified as A.P. Sainaba, wife of the late K.P. Ummer Haji. Shareef slashed Sainaba’s throat with a dagger while she was fast asleep around 1.30 a.m.
The mother and son were alone in Shabeer Manzil near Seethalipoyil Juma Masjid house when the incident occurred.
After committing this gruesome act, Shareef went out and informed the local mosque and the neighbours.
When people from the mosque and the neighbours rushed to the house they saw Sainaba in a pool of blood, police sources said.
The victim was already dead when people reached the spot.
Shareef, 31, completed his MBA programme from St John’s College in Pathanamthitta.
But, he is yet to clear a few papers in which he had failed. Based on the initial information from relatives of the victim, police said that Shareef was suffering from a mental illness and was under treatment.
The Chakkarakkal police who reached the spot took Shareef into custody.
Ummer, husband of Sainaba died a few years ago. Shareef was Sainaba’s younger son. The other four sons are working or engaged in business in Bengaluru, Kottayam and Kuwait.
