Mega structure to highlight SmartCity
Kochi: The first building of the SmartCity to be constructed at a cost of Rs 160 crore to Rs 170 crore near Kadambrayar here, will be the first such structure in the state, with each storey having a massive one lakh sq ft built up area in keeping with international standards.
The plan of the six storey building, finalised last week in consultation with Canada based B+H Architects, is waiting for clearance by the SmartCity board of directors. The construction work is expected to begin by the first week of July and will be completed in 18 to 20 months, sources said.
The revised master plan of the 246 acre project will have more open space than was proposed earlier. According to this, 70 per cent of the land would be used for open space and only 30 per cent for buildings.
Apart from road connectivity, SmartCity could also be accessed via the proposed water route from Vyttila Mobility Hub to Kakkanad. A boat jetty would be constructed on the project site for the purpose. In addition to this, a 2.5 km long green walkway would also be built along the banks of Kadambrayar River.
Bengaluru based Synergy Project Managements will oversee the execution of the project and has been asked to ensure its timely completion. The first building would get its power from solar energy and would also have the fifth floor exclusively devoted to restaurants, a health club, spa and indoor courts.
