Meghalaya CM Mukul Sangma alleges discrimination drove his niece to commit suicide
Dana Silva M Sangma, niece of Meghalaya Chief Minister Mukul Sangma committed suicide at her college in Manesar near Gurgaon and Sangama has alleged that discrimination drove his niece to take the extreme measure.
Dana a 21-year-old first year MBA student of Amity University was found hanging from the fan of her hostel room on Tuesday. She committed suicide after she was accused of cheating in an exam. Sources say that when Dana protested the invigilator humiliated her and tore her answer sheet.
Dana's family lodged an FIR and a case has been registered against Amity University authorities under the SC/ST Act. Police have seized the Dana's mobile phone and answer sheet and have started the probe to ascertain if she was copying from the phone during the exam on Tuesday.
Dana's last rites were performed at her home town Tura in West Garo Hills district of the state on Thursday.
