Meghalaya CM overreacting, says NCP
A day after chief minister Mukul Sangma criticised NCP for "trying to take mileage" out of the ethnic violence, the opposition party on Thursday hit back saying that he was "overreacting".
Leader of opposition Conrad Sangma regretted the chief minister's "misconception about Union minister Agatha Sangma's visit to the troubled areas".
"When the chief minister was in New Delhi, Ms Agatha Sangma, as a responsible public representative to centre, went to the violence-hit places risking her safety in order to bring the situation under control," Mr Conrad said.
"Due to her concern about the suffering of the people, Ms Agatha Sangma cancelled her trip to Japan," he said.
Mr Conrad said chief minister was unaware that Ms Agatha Sangma had informed Dudhnoi police station in Assam before visiting the relief camps there.
Ms Sangma had said at a press briefing, "Instead of coordinating with the government in restoring normalcy, Union minister of state Ms Agatha Sangma is moving around and criticising the state government which is unexpected of a Union minister."
