Metro work will go to DMRC: Minister
Urban development minister Kamal Nath on Monday made it clear that the work on Kochi Metro will be entrusted with the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC).
Talking to the media here, the minister said the metro work would be carried out by the DMRC.
He, however, left it to the state government and the DMRC to take a decision on how to make use of the service of DMRC former managing director E Sreedharan, for the state’s dream project.
Sources said Sreedharan, presently serving as principal advisor to DMRC, would not be able to simultaneously hold another position in the KMRL as the rules restricted it.
However, Kochi Metro could get Sreedharan’s service as principal advisor if DMRC gets the project work awarded to it.
The KMRL director board is holding a meeting on Tuesday. It would take nearly a month to form the new director board.
